Displayed to the right is the ending position of the lock. In this position, the defender is pulling up on the persons wrist with his right hand and leverage is applied just above the elbow with the knife of the left hand to limit escape.

If the attacker should try to bend his/her elbow, simply saw back and forth across this point on the arm with the left arm and hand.

The arm bar is done by holding the wrist of an opponent and pulling up while simultaneously pushing down at the elbow region.  Different martial arts and situations within a particular art will demand different variations on the method of application.
