Marshalltown's Christian ATA proudly offers training in the Songahm form style. This style was developed by Grand Master H.U. Lee in 1983 and is a complete style with each successive form building on the foundation laid by the last. It is a series of patterns of techniques that effectively conveying our system of Taekwondo. If laid one atop another, the forms will complete the Songahm star shown below. There is also symbolism carried in the star, and thus in the form system. For Instance, all forms begin facing east. East is the direction toward Korea (where the martial art began) and thus we begin our forms showing respect to those origins. By training in these forms we build technique, strength and flexibility which in turn helps us in every day life by giving us health and vitality.
