The American Taekwondo Association defines Taekwondo as "a martial art that trains people both physically and mentally" Songahm Taekwondo Instructor Manual p. 114

Marshalltown's Christian ATA offers several benefits.

  • Physical Fitness
  • Self defense skills
  • Self confidence and other life skills

These benefits are achieved through the following programs.  For more information follow the links and read more.

Leadership Club
Leadership club includes anyone who wishes to learn how to become a leader not only in our club, but in our community. Every member of the leadership club can participate in advanced training which is of great benefit in their overall martial arts experience.

Black Belt Club
The black belt club is offered for all camo through red belts, and includes training in forms, one-steps, sparring and board breaking techniques appropriate for each rank.

Also included is training in weapons. This instruction gives the student a good basis from which to draw when they become a black belt where training in weapons is required. For this reason, it is recommended that all camo through red belts receive training in either Single Bahng Mahng Ee or Single Ssahng Jeol Bong as these are required at first degree black belt.

Basic Club
Our basic club is offered for White - Yellow belt students. This training includes a good introduction to Taekwondo. During this time the student will receive instruction in Forms and One-Steps designed to give a firm grounding in the basic techniques of Taekwondo and to give the student a sense of distance for the delivery of those techniques.

Also received at each rank is a book and a video which greatly benefits training outside of our center. We strongly encourage anyone who is entering a martial arts program to train not only in the dojang, but also at home.

These classes are high energy and fun, so come on in and try it out!
